Minor Irrigation & Ground Water Development Division
About the Department
Minor Irrigation and Ground Water Development Department is headed by Secretary .This division falls under the Chief Engineer North Zone Vijayapura and Superintendent Engineer Minor Irrigation Circle Kalaburgi. Under this Division there are 3 Sub Divisions Headed by Assistant Executive Engineer head quartered at Kushtagi, Koppal and Raichur. There are Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer at Sub Division level to Assist the Assistant Executive Engineer.
Department Activities
Department looks after into the following aspects.
- Construction of Bridge cum Barrage across nala for indirect irrigation and also for the improvements of Ground water table by storage of water.
- Providing Lift Irrigation Scheme through raising main pipeline lifting water from the perennial river and nalas etc and also providing irrigation by drilling of borewell for irrigation purpose.
- By Construction of Check dam for ground water recharge and also filling of tanks in order have recharge of ground water table
